Hippos and fish eagles - Sibaya Lake Lodge
Situated within the Greater St. Lucia World Heritage Site, the grunting of Hippos and the calls of African Fish Eagles are the only intrusions into the peace and harmony of Sibaya Lake Lodge.
Sibaya Lake Lodge is the only lodge on South Africa's largest fresh water lake and offers spectacular views across 70 square kilometers of crystal clear fresh water lake. The warm water of the Indian Ocean, and the perfect weather make this a good year round destination.
From Zulu dancing to Bird watching
Activities include sunset cruises on our Arab Dhow, canoeing, guided walking trails, Zulu dancing, bird watching, turtle watching, snorkeling the coral reefs, swimming and year round sunbathing.
The conservation area offers a wide variety of game including Impala, Nyala, Reedbuck, Zebra, Red Duiker, and prolific birdlife. Whether on an early morning guided walk or a late night turtle watching experience, you set the pace.
Walking trails
Guided or individual walking trails are educational and take you on a ramble through thick indigenous sand forests, open grassland, alongside the lake and next to the marshes.
Culture at Sibaya remains genuine and unenacted. Guests are privileged to experience "SHEMBE" -- a fusion of ancestral worship, Christianity and traditional dancing with drums, carved pipes and horns.
